UV laser marking machine versus ink-jet marking machine

Production date and barcode are the MUST-HAVE information on the product packages. And most of them are produced by UV laser marking machine or inkjet marking machine. Many people don’t know which to choose and which one is better. Today, we are going to make a comparison between these two.

UV laser marking machine

UV laser has a wavelength of 355nm with narrow pulse width, small light spot, high speed and small heat affecting zone. It can be remote controlled by computer and perform precise marking.

UV laser marking machine adopts non-contact processing and it is a kind of cold-processing, which means the running temperature is pretty low during operation. Therefore, it won’t damage the surface of the materials. More importantly, the marking produced by UV laser marking machine is very clear and long lasting, which is a great tool for anti-counterfeiting.

Inkjet marking machine

Inkjet marking machine is a kind of air-operated inkjet marking machine. There are atomizing air inlet and ink let of the sides of the hybrid valves. On the switch that controls the valves there is needle valve air inlet which is used to perform marking on the subject. It is pretty easy to operate inkjet marking machine without special training.

UV laser marking machine versus inkjet printing machine

1.Working efficiency

UV laser marking machine has superior marking speed. For inkjet marking machine, because of its consumables, its inkjet head is easy to get clogged, which slows down the working efficiency.

2.Cost

UV laser marking machine doesn’t involve consumables, so its cost is just a one-time investment. As for inkjet marking machine, it has so many consumables like cartridges which are quite expensive. It could be big cost if using the inkjet marking machine for a large quantity of marking.

3.Data compatibility

UV laser marking machine can be remote controlled by computer with fantastic data processing ability. The marking characters can be adjusted as needed. But for inkjet marking machine, it relies on programming into the machine hardware, so its ability to control data is quite limited.

To sum up, UV laser marking machine is more ideal than inkjet marking machine, although it is a little more expensive. But the price difference justifies the value of UV laser marking machine in the long run.

UV laser marking machine often comes with a recirculating chiller to maintain its marking performance, as the UV laser is quite sensitive to temperature. And in domestic industrial chiller manufacturers, S&A Teyu is the one you can trust. S&A Teyu recirculating chiller CWUP-10 is specially designed for UV laser from 10-15W. It delivers continuous cooling of ±0.1℃ temperature stability and 810W refrigeration capacity. Perfect for precision cooling.
