1.Working principle
Laser marking machine uses laser beam to vaporize the surface material. The surface material will have chemical change or physical change and then the inside material will be exposed. This process will create the marking.
Laser engraving machine, however, uses laser beam to engrave or cut. It actually engraves deep into the material.
2. Applied materials
Laser engraving machine is a kind of deep engraving and often works on non-metal materials. Laser marking machine, however, just has to work on the surface of the materials, so it is applicable to non-metal and metal materials.
3. Speed and depth
As mentioned before, laser engraving machine can go deeper into the materials than laser marking machine. In terms of speed, laser marking machine is much faster than laser engraving machine. It can generally reach 5000 mm/s -7000mm/s.
4. Laser source
Laser engraving machine is often powered by CO2 glass laser tube. However, laser marking machine can adopt fiber laser, CO2 laser and UV laser as the laser source.
