How does laser welding machine excel in thin metal sector?

With so many outstanding features,no wonder laser welding machine excels in the thin metal sector. Among all the kinds of laser welding machine, fiber laser welding machine is no doubt the most widely used one. It often comes with high performance fiber laser source.

Laser welding is one of the most important parts in laser material processing. Laser welding is a precision welding technique that uses high energy laser light as heat source. It can combine materials of different types, different thickness and different shapes together to achieve the best performance of the materials. In thin metal sector in particular, laser welding has become a popular method. So what are the advantages of laser welding in thin metal sector? Let’s take thin stainless steel plate as an example.

As we know, stainless steel has a wide variety of applications in our daily life. And the welding of thin stainless steel plate has become an important procedure in industrial manufacturing. However, because of the property of the thin stainless steel plate itself, its welding used to be a challenge. Thin stainless steel plate has very small heat conductivity coefficient (about 1/3 of normal low carbon steel). When we use traditional welding machine on the thin stainless steel plate, the plate will form uneven strain and stress once some parts of it receive heating and cooling. What’s more, if the traditional welding machine has too high pressure on the thin stainless steel plate, the plate will deform like the wave. This is not good for the work piece quality.

But with laser welding machine, those kinds of problems can be easily solved. Laser welding uses high energy laser light to perform local heating on very tiny area of the thin metal. The energy from the laser light will spread to the inside of the material through heat conduction and then the metal will melt and become a special molten pool. Laser welding features small weld line width, small heat-affecting zone, little deformation, high welding speed, high welding quality and no further treatment required. It has won the heart from many users in the thin metal sector.

With so many outstanding features, no wonder laser welding machine excels in the thin metal sector. Among all the kinds of laser welding machine, fiber laser welding machine is no doubt the most widely used one. It often comes with high performance fiber laser source. Fiber laser source can easily get overheating if it is not properly cooled. This makes an efficient water chiller system is highly recommended. S&A Teyu has been dedicating to water chiller system for laser applications for 19 years. After these years of experience, we know what our laser customers need. To cool down the fiber lasers of the laser welding machine, we have the CWFL series chiller machine. This CWFL series chiller machine has one thing in common - they all have dual temperature. That means separate cooling can be provided with ONE chiller machine to cool down the fiber laser and the laser head respectively. Such an innovative design of the CWFL series water chiller system has attracted so many laser welding machine users at home and abroad.
