Along with the chilly wind, the shorter days and longer nights mark the coming of the winter, and do you know how to upkeep your industrial water chiller in this cold season?

1. Keep the industrial chiller in a ventilated position and remove the dust regularly

(1)Chiller placement: The air outlet(cooling fan) of the water chiller should be at least 1.5m away from the obstacle, and the air inlet(filter gauze) must be at least 1m away from the obstacle, which helps to dissipate the heat of the chiller.

(2)Clean & Remove the dust: Regularly use a compressed air gun to blow away the dust and impurities on the condenser surface to avoid poor heat dissipation caused by the increased temperature of the compressor.

2. Replace circulating water at regular intervals

Cooling water will form a scale in the process of circulation, affecting the normal operation of the water chiller system. If the laser chiller working normally, it's recommended to replace the circulating water once every 3 months. And it's better to select purified water or distilled water to reduce the limescale formation and keep the water circuit smooth.

3. If you don’t use the water chiller in winter, how to maintain it?

(1)Drain the water from the chiller. If the chiller is not used in winter, it is extremely important to drain the water in the system. There will be water in the pipeline and equipment at low temperature, and the water will expand when it freezes, causing damage to the pipeline. After thorough cleaning and descaling, using a dry high-pressure gas to blow the pipeline can avoid residual water to erode the equipment and the icing problem of the system.

(2)Store the chiller properly. After cleaning and drying the inside and outside of the industrial chiller, reinstall the panel. It is recommended to temporarily store the chiller in a place that does not affect production, and cover the machine with a clean plastic bag to prevent dust and moisture from entering the equipment.

4. For areas below 0℃, antifreeze is needed for chiller operation in winter

Adding antifreeze in the cold winter can prevent the cooling liquid from freezing, cracking the pipelines inside the laser & chiller and damaging the leakproofness of the pipeline. Selecting the wrong type of antifreeze or use it improperly will damage the pipelines. Here are 5 points to note when selecting the antifreezer: (1)Stable chemical property; (2)Good anti-freeze performance; (3)Proper low-temperature viscosity; (4)Anticorrosive and rustproof; (5)No swelling and erosion for rubber sealing conduit.

There are 3 important principles of antifreeze addition:

(1)The low-concentration antifreeze is preferred. With antifreeze needs satisfied, the lower the concentration the better.

(2)The shorter the use time, the better. Antifreezing solution used for a long time will have certain deterioration, and become more corrosive. Its viscosity will also change. So it is recommended to replace the antifreeze once a year. Purified water used in summer and new antifreeze replaced in winter.

(3)Different antifreeze should not be mixed. Even though different brands of antifreeze have the same ingredients, the additive formula is different. It is recommended to use the same brand of antifreeze to avoid chemical reactions, precipitation or bubbles.
