3 categories of automatic welding robots

Based on the welding technique, welding robot can be categorized into spot welding robot, arc welding robot, friction stir welding robot and laser welding robot.

The current industrial welding production posts more and more demanding requirements to the welding quality. Therefore, it is getting harder and harder to find the skillful welding technicians and the cost of hiring such experienced welding technicians is getting higher and higher. But luckily, welding robot was successfully invented. It can perform different kinds of welding job with high precision, high quality and shorter time. Based on the welding technique, welding robot can be categorized into spot welding robot, arc welding robot, friction stir welding robot and laser welding robot.

1.Spot welding robot

Spot welding robot features big effective load and big working space. It often comes with specific spot welding gun which can realize flexible and accurate movement. When it first appeared, it was only used for reinforcing welding, but later it is used for fixed-position welding.

2.Arc welding robot

Arc welding robot is widely used in many different industries, such as universal machinery and metal structures. It is a flexible welding system. During the operation of the arc welding robot, the welding gun will move along the weld line and continuously add the metal to form a weld line. Therefore, speed and track accuracy are two important factors in the running of arc welding robot.

3.Friction stir welding robot

During the operation of the friction stir welding robot, due to the vibration, pressure that imposed on the weld line, friction spindle size, vertical and lateral track deviation, higher demand on positive pressure, torque, force sense ability and track control ability for the robot is required.

4.Laser welding robot

Unlike the above-mentioned welding robots, laser welding robot uses laser as the heat source. The common laser sources include fiber laser and laser diode. It has the highest precision and is able to realize big part welding and complicated curve welding. Generally speaking, the major parts of a laser welding robot includes servo-controlled, multi-axis mechanical arm, rotary table, laser head and a small water chiller system. You might wonder why a laser welding robot would need a small water chiller system. Well, it is used for cooling the laser source inside the laser welding robot to prevent overheating problem. An effective cooling system can help maintain the excellent welding performance of the laser welding robot.

S&A Teyu CWFL series small water chiller systems are ideal cooling partner for laser welding robot from 500W to 20000W. They are characterized by dual temperature control, providing individual cooling for the laser head and the laser source. This not only saves space but also saves money for the users. The temperature stability includes ±0.3℃, ±0.5℃ and ±1℃ for selection. Check out the complete CWFL series small water chiller systems at https://www.chillermanual.net/fiber-laser-chillers_c2
